As another incredible year draws to a close, we thought it would be fun to look back over the past twelve months and pick out some of the products that have made an impact on our skin care and beauty routines. Here’s what has rocked our skin care world in 2017.
ColoreScience Mattifying Perfector – link
We love a product that does more than one thing, so we kind of hit the jackpot with this primer in 2017. Its smooth, mousse-like texture glides over the skin to create the smoothest canvas we have ever experienced, while helping to control shine and hide large pores without ever feeling heavy or greasy. It is also tinted, making it perfect for disguising redness, and provides sun protection to keep the skin healthy. It’s so good, we’ve even forgone foundation on some days.
Murad Age Reform Hydro-Dynamic Quenching Essence – link
2017 was the year we fell in love with essences. Lighter than serums and super-hydrating, our favourite from the past year has to be this one from Murad. It contains a blend of thirst-quenching Watermelon, Apple and Mexican Blue Agave Leaf Extract, to combat dry patches but what makes it really special is the addition of Glycolic Acid. It contains the perfect amount to soften and brighten the skin, without causing sensitivity or any uncomfortable tingling.
Skyn ICELAND Glacial Cleansing Cloths – link
Although we try our best to maintain a thorough skin care regime, there are some nights when we just want to quickly cleanse our skin and get in bed; that’s where these cleansing cloths come in. Unlike a traditionally drying face wipe, these are infused with antioxidants and botanical extracts, to quickly remove make-up and impurities while soothing and nourishing the skin. We don’t use them every day, but a huge chunk of our office rely on them on lazy days.
Intraceuticals Rejuvenate Enzyme Exfoliant – link
We became a bit obsessed with Intraceuticals over the Summer, and this exfoliating scrub is the product that has kept our skin clear and smooth ever since. It uses a mix of acids, fruit enzymes and non-scratching beads made of beeswax and bamboo, to remove dead surface cells and stimulate cell turnover for a more radiant complexion. Honourable mention must also go to the Rejuvenate Daily Serum and the Lip Mask, which we have also loved this year.
Vitage Illuminating Tanning Drops – link
Maintaining a (fake) tan is no easy task. It can be time consuming, messy and the results aren’t always exactly what you want. Luckily, Vitage released this little beauty in the Summer and we are crossing our fingers that they make it a permanent part of their range. It’s a concentrated liquid packed with three different types of DHA – the ingredient that tans your skin – alongside conditioning oils and Vitamin E. The idea is, you add a few drops to your usual moisturiser to turn it into a gradual tanner. We found that it gave us a beautifully golden yet natural looking glow, and worked to prolong our holiday tan for much longer than we are used to.
Medik8 PoreCleanse Gel – link
There was one cleanser in 2017 that we just couldn’t be without and our skin just didn’t feel the same if we didn’t use it every morning. Not for the faint-hearted, this Medik8 gel cleanser is designed to purify and clear out congested, oily and blemish-prone skins, and we found it to be the best thing to wake up and refresh our tired complexions. It doesn’t sting or tingle or make the skin too dry, although naturally drier skin types might want to use something a little more conditioning, and prepares the skin for serum better than anything else. We can see this being a favourite in 2018 too.
