What Causes Cellulite?

There are no concrete causes of cellulite but it is often hereditary and tends to develop in areas where circulation is sluggish such as on the thighs and buttocks. Other factors that can contribute to the worsening of cellulite include hormones (mainly oestrogen), extreme changes in weight and long periods of immobility.

These all cause the fat cells to balloon up and become squished together. In the fight for more space, some push up into the top layers of the skin which causes the visible bumping and uneven texture that is associated with cellulite.
